The weather in the Pacific Northwest has turned lovely in the past few weeks, though mostly I've been indoors and either behind the microphone, practicing, or onstage. Although PNW winters are usually much gentler than other "northern" climates - the Mountain West, midwest and Northeast for starters - the Seattle area did get more than our usual share of snow this winter (most notably, 24" in a 7-day period this February). So, having spring finally arrive has been a blessed relief.
I've spent most of April either dealing with a nasty cold, preparing for Norwescon, or recording tracks for other folks' albums (Sunnie Larsen's first album and PDX Broadsides' upcoming album, to be specific). Happily, I also spent one blissful evening with my dear friend Amy McNally, fiddler extraordinaire; she is from the Chicago area, so we don't get to see each other as much as we'd like. Amy and I love to improvise together, so that's what we did on our one mid-April evening together. We played together for several hours; this piece was our "pick" from the resulting recordings. We hope you enjoy it!
