Luminous

about

This month's piece is Luminous, inspired by a lovely watercolor painting that currently graces my studio desktop. The painting's vivid, rich, and occasionally dissonant colors create the harmonic backdrop of this piece; you'll hear the luminous starry sky and the dark, somewhat opinonated trees echoed in the piece's motifs.

(Technical trivia: this piece was in part arranged using Logic Pro's brand-new "Live Loops" feature, which lets you create musical "lego pieces" (loops) and then use them to build & arrange musical compositions. I've been doing something like this for years using Logic Pro's "regular" arrangement features; I had high hopes for Live Loops, which looked like it might be fun, useful, and possibly easier than trying to do the same thing "manually". However, unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be stable yet… Logic eventually began crashing whenever I tried to change anything, so I ended up having to completely re-create my piece in a new file without Live Loops enabled -- and which thankfully produced a functional, non-crashing file. Phew!)
