Cat and Moth (Molly on the Table)

Cat and Moth (Molly on the Table) is an original tune that I wrote after watching our cat Mali (pronounced "Molly") in hot pursuit of an (understandably panicked) moth, which led her on a mad chase through the house, always staying just too high for her to reach. Finally, she leapt onto the kitchen table (which she knows is forbidden), swatted the moth out of the air with one great spatulate paw, and then promptly ate it before it could recover.

In this photo, Mali is every bit as guilty and self-satisfied as she looks: she knows she isn't allowed on the table -- but mmm, that moth was tasty!

(Mali, in case you are wondering, is a one-year-old silver tabby and white Maine Coon cat whose registered name is Coondalay Amalthea of Pinecoon. She is extremely snuggly and affectionate, as well as inconveniently intelligent. Mali particularly enjoys terrorizing Peter, a Maine Coon who is at least twice her size but who is unaccountably afraid of her - a fact which Mali finds most entertaining. Her favorite toys are running water, Peter, a full water bowl, and moths. )
