This month's piece, An Alligator Somewhere, Somehow, was inspired by the cover photo, which I took several years ago, back in The Before Times (when we could travel and tour and play music together in person and everything… sigh…).
I took this photo in New Orleans in 2015; Sooj and I had come to New Orleans to perform at their Pagan Pride day. On our day off, we visited one of New Orleans' many lovely city parks. This particular park had an equally lovely bayou that was apparently full of alligators -- at least, according to the many cautionary signs posted along the water's edge.
Happily, the local alligators were not feeling aggressive that day; instead, they were sneaky and secretive, and we left the park with all our toes intact.
As y'all have probably guessed by now, this month's piece is based on the very first song I ever wrote: Alligator in the House. However, this version is entirely instrumental, and there are a few other differences as well.
Looking forward to the day (someday, somehow) when we can once again travel and visit and play music in person…
Stay safe, stay well, and don’t let the alligators get you!
